Wall ovens can offer customers a variety of features, configurations and heating systems, making it a challenge to choose the right one for your kitchen.

Wall Oven Overview
Many wall ovens can fit seamlessly into an existing kitchen design, even enhancing it, or could even help refresh the look of a space. Because they are installed into a wall, your kitchen could have a more open feel in addition to letting you reclaim some counter space or potentially adding more cabinetry.
Many wall ovens are equipped with features that are similar to standard ranges. These can include bake, broil roast, convection baking, convection broiling, convection roasting, meat probes, timers and a delayed start function. Wall ovens can also be WiFi enabled. This feature provides owners with the option to remotely start, stop, modify the temperature or receive cooking notifications via an app offered by the manufacturer.
Heating Systems
Thermal Ovens
Thermal ovens, also called conventional ovens, use the classic thermal baking system that is comprised of a bake element at the bottom and a broil element at the top.
Thermal ovens are not available through Maytag.
Convection Ovens
Convection ovens employ both convection and thermal heat. The choice of which to use should be based on whether you want to bake or broil. This system can achieve an even distribution of heat in the oven cavity to help speed up cooking time and produce more even baking.
There Are Two Types of Convection
A fan convection system uses a fan to help distribute heat in the oven cavity to experience more consistent temperatures than that of traditional thermal cooking. Fan convection are not available through Maytag.
True Convection includes a third heating element behind a fan. This additional heating element ensures that warm air is being dispersed throughout the oven. This helps maintain a consistent uniform temperature for more even cooking.
Historically, cooking instructions and recipes are written only for thermal (conventional) ovens. Some models can automatically make these conversions. Others require you to do the work beforehand. Don’t worry as there are several online resources.
Configurations
Double Wall Ovens
You can install a double wall oven (with either a convection or thermal baking systems) that features two ovens and a single control panel. With separate upper and lower ovens, you can cook multiple dishes at the same time at different temperatures.
Single Wall Ovens
Single wall ovens have one oven and a single control panel. They come in convection or thermal baking systems.
Combination Wall Ovens
Combination wall ovens are a stacked suite that combine a microwave and a convection or thermal oven with a single control panel. This suite offers additional versatility as the microwave can also perform as an extra convection oven
Sizes
Are you looking for a wall oven to fit with your existing kitchen space? There are a range of sizes to best fit a variety of spaces.
Wall ovens usually come in two wide dimensions: 27” and 30”. There are options for 24” width for smaller kitchens available from certain lines. Height can depend on the configuration and brand. Singles are usually around 29” high, doubles 51”high, and combinations can extend to 42” high. All units have a depth of around 23”.
Review the specifications and precise measurements offered by the manufacturer. Some may vary.
Wall Oven Installation & Integration
Certain wall ovens can be installed flush whereas some might protrude about 1”. This is known as proud installation. A flush wall oven typically requires more depth than that which is provided by the standard cabinets. In these cases, you may have to purchase a flush installation kit. You should review the installation and dimension guides before commencing and expressly follow the instructions.
If you are looking to save space in your kitchen, you can choose an option that can be installed under cooktops. If you want this configuration, confirm with the manufacturer that they offer it.
It’s recommended to work with a tradesperson who will follow the installation guide to understand all electrical requirements, the parts needed for assembly and installation and cabinetry cutout dimensions.

Cleaning
Manual or Standard Clean
Manual or standard ovens need to be cleaned by hand, sometimes with the aid of cleaning agents to remove stains. Carefully follow your appliance and product use and care instructions prior to cleaning.
Self-clean
Ovens categorized as self-cleaning can assist with the oven cleaning process. These models can include features like a high-heat self-clean option that locks the door and then heats the oven cavity to roughly 800 °F (400°C). This amount of heat can incinerate most spills or food. All you must do is wipe away any remaining food particles. Be prepared that this can take anywhere from two to six hours.
Steam Clean

You will have to manually clean any remaining residue and water possibly with the use of chemical cleaners.
